Actress Sumbul Touqeer will return to the big screen after a six-year hiatus, starring in her first major motion picture, Jhaad Phook. She reflects on the occasion saying, “I manifested this,” adding that she had always intended to go back to films. The movie is currently being filmed in Uttarakhand.

For Sumbul, Jhaad Phook is a significant turning point in her career as it marks her first appearance as the lead. Defining the opportunity as “no less than a feat”, Sumbul acknowledges the experience has been a little overwhelming.
Recalling her performance in Article 15 in 2019, Sumbul says, “I kept telling myself, I want to do more films but next time as a lead. Now that its actually happening, I couldn’t believe it until I was on the set.”
Talking about why she decided to be part of the project, Sumbul says, “The story stood out for being fresh and engaging. My goal is to do complete justice to the character I play”.
Having previously worked in television and music videos, her 2019 film debut seemed like a logical next step for her. However, she remains open to working across other platforms even after entering the film industry. “Why limit myself to one medium when I love acting?” states Sumbul.
The young actress is highly picky about the roles she accepts. “I have never taken up just about anything that came my way. I am always drawn to stories that I feel have something meaningful to offer — that is what excites the storyteller in me.” explains Sumbul.
