Hyderabad’s acclaimed cocktail bar Oxymorons has expanded its creative vision with the launch of Fussy Ccat, a reservation-only lunch concept that transforms the bar’s 130-year-old heritage space in Begumpet into a completely different daytime dining destination. Rather than functioning as a conventional restaurant, Fussy Ccat is designed as an evolving culinary platform where menus, cuisines, and experiences change periodically through curated edits.

Known for its intimate 32-seater setting and inventive cocktail programme, Oxymorons now wears a different personality during lunch hours. Every afternoon the heritage venue is reimagined as Fussy Ccat with a distinct ambience, menu, and design language that sets it apart from its evening avatar.
The concept is driven by the belief that diners much like their cravings are constantly evolving. Instead of being tied to a single cuisine or format, Fussy Ccat embraces change, introducing limited-period menus that allow the team to explore new ideas while giving guests a fresh reason to return.
The Story Behind Fussy Ccat
The name traces its origins to an unexpected muse—a cat, frequently spotted around the Country Club compound where Oxymorons is located. Her eating habits were delightfully unpredictable: on some days she would happily finish an entire plate, while on others she would completely ignore the very same meal.
Her ever-changing preferences earned her the nickname ‘Fussy Cat.’ The team soon realised that people aren’t very different. Preferences shift, cravings evolve, and curiosity often shapes what people want to eat. That observation became the inspiration behind Fussy Ccat and its rotating edit format.
Sharing the vision behind the concept, Honey Jain Guha, Co-founder of Oxymorons says, “This Place has always been driven by curiosity, whether it’s behind the bar or in the experiences we create. Fussy Ccat extends that philosophy into food. We didn’t want to build a restaurant around a single cuisine—we wanted to build one around discovery. The edit format gives us the freedom to keep exploring what excites us while giving guests something new to look forward to every time they visit.”
Founder Rehan Guha adds, “Our first edit celebrates ramen not because Fussy Ccat is a ramen restaurant, but because it’s the cuisine our team is currently most excited to explore. Every future edit will move in a different direction introducing new cuisines, formats, and flavours while creating a fresh dining experience each time.”
From the outset, founders Rehan and Honey Guha envisioned Fussy Ccat as more than a lunch menu – they wanted it to have an identity entirely of its own. To achieve this, the team transforms the venue every day allowing both concepts to coexist while maintaining distinct personalities.
During lunch service, warm lighting replaces the bar’s moody ambience, while cream-coloured tapestries carrying playful messages brighten the interiors. Every table is adorned with crocheted flowers tucked into charming cat figurines, reinforcing the concept’s whimsical identity.
The concealed bookshelf entrance also receives a makeover featuring handcrafted plaster-and-paper artwork depicting the ‘nine moods’ of a cat, a playful nod to the folklore surrounding a cat’s nine lives. Even the crockery has been custom-designed to complement Fussy Ccat’s curious and light-hearted character.
As lunch concludes, the transformation begins once again. By 5 p.m., the warm interiors gradually give way to Oxymorons’ signature deep red glow. Decorative tapestries are removed, bespoke tableware is replaced with the cocktail bar’s signature settings, and the bookshelf returns to displaying books instead of paper cats. Within a matter of hours, the same heritage space seamlessly shifts from an inviting lunch destination into an intimate cocktail bar.

Launching with the Ramen Edit
Fussy Ccat makes its debut with a Ramen Edit celebrating the beloved Japanese comfort dish through a menu that explores diverse broths, toppings, and flavour combinations.
Alongside classics such as Tonkotsu Ramen and Shoyu Chicken Ramen, the menu features inventive interpretations including Thecha Paitan Ramen, which marries Japanese cooking techniques with bold Maharashtrian flavours and Charred Nasu Ramen finished with crispy gongura for a distinctly regional twist.
The experience extends beyond ramen with an accompanying selection of small plates including gyozas, cabbage and pork rolls, silken tofu in spicy sauce, fresh salads, and a rotating dessert of the day. Every dish has been created exclusively for this limited-period edit, reinforcing Fussy Ccat’s philosophy of offering guests a dining experience that is constantly evolving.
With Fussy Ccat, Oxymorons introduces a fresh way to experience the same address – one that transforms not only its interiors but also its culinary identity. By embracing rotating menus instead of a fixed cuisine, the new concept invites diners to return for something different with every edit, making curiosity the defining ingredient of the experience.
