Television Actress Sanchita Ugale famed for her appearances in popular shows like Kumkum Bhagya and Wagle Ki Duniya has reportedly died by suicide at the age of 26. The actress was found hanging at her residence in Nalasopara on Sunday, June 14 by family members who rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. No suicide note has been recovered so far in the case.

Sanchita Ugale’s untimely demise has marked a tragic loss for the television industry. At just 22, the actress was regarded as one of the promising young talents in Indian entertainment, with a career that appeared to be on the rise. With projects like Saajan Ghar, Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi, Chhaava, and Silence 2 to her credit across television, films, and digital platforms, the actress was steadily making a name for herself in the entertainment industry.
The news of Ugale’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief on the social media, where fans and colleagues have shared tributes remembering her talent and promising journey. Many were left stunned as the actress had remained active on social media in the days leading up to her death.
As investigations continue, authorities have not disclosed any specific reason behind the alleged suicide. Officials insist all angles are being examined as part of the ongoing probe. But close friends of the actress have revealed she was depressed and frequently talked about ending her life. She has also been undergoing treatment for the same since January 2026.
Meanwhile, All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta in his press note released today has urged the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis to conduct a high-level inquiry into the death of Sanchita Ugale and ensure that justice is delivered to her family. The body has called upon the State Government and the concerned authorities to establish a dedicated committee to examine the increasing number of deaths and mental health-related crises being reported within the entertainment industry.
“The loss suffered by Sanchita Ugale’s family is beyond words. No parent should have to endure the pain of losing a young daughter with a promising future ahead of her. The entire film fraternity stands firmly with her family during this difficult time,” said Gupta in his Press Note.
“The safety, well-being, and support systems available to artists and workers must be reviewed urgently. Every life is precious. The truth behind this tragic incident must come out, and the family of Sanchita Ugale deserves nothing less than a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation,” added Gupta.
