The Hollywood Reporter India (THR India), in collaboration with De Beers, successfully hosted the second edition of its Women in Entertainment gala—an evening dedicated to honoring the trailblazing women shaping the future of the entertainment industry. Held at the Fairmont Mumbai, the star-studded event brought together 150 distinguished guests, including leading actors, filmmakers, producers, and industry leaders.

The red-carpet celebration saw the presence of prominent names such as Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Ananya Panday, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Jyotika, and Zoya Akhtar, among others—each representing the evolving face of Indian entertainment.
Actor-producer Samantha Ruth Prabhu delivered a compelling keynote address, emphasizing the importance of gender parity, creative autonomy, and the responsibility that comes with influence in the industry. Adding a meaningful dimension to the evening, THR India partnered with CRY (Child Rights and You) as the official impact partner, introducing the Wishing Tree initiative as part of Women in Entertainment 2026.
A key highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the THR India Women in Entertainment Power List, which recognized 50 of the most influential women across the industry. Rani Mukerji was honored with the Timeless Icon Award, while Aneet Padda received the Breakthrough Artist of the Year title. Malayalam cinema’s Santhy Balachandran was celebrated as the Changemaker of the Year for her impactful contributions.
Reflecting on the significance of the event, Avarna Jain, Chairperson of RPSG Lifestyle Media, noted that women are not only shaping stories on screen but are also redefining the industry’s very foundation. She described the gala as both a celebration of progress and a call to continue advancing together.
Echoing this sentiment, Anupama Chopra, Editor of The Hollywood Reporter India, highlighted the transformative power of storytelling and the vital role women play in driving it forward. She described the evening as a tribute to the creativity, courage, and vision of both celebrated and unsung contributors who elevate the industry.
The Women in Entertainment 2026 gala stood as a powerful reminder of the strides made—and the journey ahead—in championing women’s voices across film, television, and beyond.
