Director Rohit Shetty and his leading man John Abraham have started to roll the second action packed schedule of their highly anticipated and ambitious project, Maria IPS. Based on former Mumbai Police Commissioner, Rakesh Maria’s autobiography, ‘Let Me Say It Now’, the film will explore his journey along with his investigations into the 1993 Bombay Blasts and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

John is Portraying Maria in the film and the character of Preeti Maria will be played by Tamannaah Bhatia. With Rohit’s propensity to keep things real, the film is likely to be shot at Iconic locations of Mumbai like Dongri, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
As reported by Mid-Day, the second schedule of the filming began on July 7 at a college in Fort after a month long break. A 65-day schedule is currently in the works with the cast and crew shooting in several locations in Mumbai and Wai. “Rohit wants the film to feel real. Shooting at locations across the city will bring that raw energy,” said a source close to the production.
“For now, we’re focusing on all the indoor scenes. After the monsoon subsides, a large set will be built for the major action sequences. The plan is to shoot non-stop until September-end when Rohit will call it a wrap on the film.” Soon after, Shetty will begin pre-production of Golmaal 5” added the source.
Maria has been part of several high-profile investigations including the sensational Neeraj Grover murder case. The film will follow pivotal cases from Maria’s 36-years illustrious career documenting his relationship with the city. Fans can anticipate thrilling action, intense storytelling, and intriguing journey of a real life supercop who confronted criminals head on. The film is set to revolutionalize cop dramas in Bollywood.
