Multiple bullets were fired in early hours of Thursday at Kapil Sharma’s recently established eatery, Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, Canada. A video that went viral shows the assailant firing indiscriminately at restaurant’s façade from a car before escaping from the site. The restaurant had become fully functional only a week ago and the shocking incident took place. Even though there were no casualties, the attack has caused considerable damage to restaurant’s property and scarred its stature.

Khalistani extremist Harjit Singh Laddi has claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the Authorities, Laddi is an operative of the outlawed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), notorious for his involvement in several terror-related crimes. He is the most sought terrorist on National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) radar.
Reportedly, Laddi was angered by comments made by Sharma on the attire of Nihang Sikhs during his television show and wanted an apology for the same. Laddi tried his best to reach out to Sharma and his team but without success. Hence in retaliation, he orchestrated the attack on sharma’s restaurant.
A day after the incident, demonstrating rare courage with the promise to ‘never give up’, the Kap’s Cafe management issued an official statement denunciating the attack on its social media page. “We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up.” read the statement.
“Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This cafe exists because of your belief in what we’re building together. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community. From all of us at Kap’s Cafe, thank you and see you soon, under better skies” concluded the statement.
