Fruit bearing trees are being planted in every home, courtyard, and public space as part of this distinct initiative. These trees will not only serve as a source of food and refuge for birds and wild animals but also provide vital nutrition to expectant mothers and children. The fact that this initiative extends well beyond plantations is what sets it apart.

Commenting on this initiative, representatives of Miam Trust said, “We are not just planting saplings; we are planting 4–5-year-old fruit trees and taking full responsibility for their care over the next 7–8 years. This is not a one-day activity but a long-term commitment.”

Additionally, trees will be planted in the Gadchiroli forests to ensure wild animals find food easily in their natural habitats and do not venture into human settlements. This effort will help reduce the age old escalating conflict between wildlife and the humans. Along with this, trees will also be planted in school premises and educational campuses.

Miam Trust firmly believes – Striking a balance between nature and development is the right way forward for humanity. While the initiative is a key step towards environment conservation, it will also contributes to climate balance, public health and biodiversity preservation. In urban areas like Mumbai, the initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation).

With the stirring slogan, ‘Plant a tree, save a life’, the trust is urging schools, NGOs, local government and residents to band together and participate in this effort. This initiative is not just leading by positive example, it is also laying the groundwork for future generations to live in a sustainable, peaceful, and green world.
