Shefali Jariwala, popular as the Kaanta Laga girl has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 42 on June 27. According to the media reports, Shefali was rushed to the Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital by her husband Parag Tyagi and his three friends late Friday night after he found her unresponsive at their residence. The doctors at Bellevue declared her ‘brought dead’ upon arrival.
While earlier reports suggested cardiac arrest as the cause, there is still no clarity or official confirmation from the family on reasons leading to the actor’s death. Shefali’s body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for a post mortem to ascertain the cause of her death. Meanwhile, to understand and put together circumstances surrounding the actor’s death, the police have started questioning domestic staff and cook of the actress as part of their preliminary investigation. A forensic team was also sent to actor’s home to conduct a detailed examination of the property.
It emerges from the police action that this case is being treated as possibly suspicious. Shefali catapulted to fame with her appearance in the remixed version of music video Kaanta Laga that had swept the Indian pop landscape in the early 2000. Her participation in the reality show Bigg Boss 13 further solidified her popularity earning her substantial parts in movies and shows.
Tributes have been pouring in for the actress from fans and industry friends who are mourning her untimely demise. Singer Mika Singh wrote on Instagram, “I’m deeply shocked, saddened, and feeling a heavy heart… Our beloved star and my dearest friend has left us. Still can’t believe it.” Actor Kushal Tandon wrote, “Life is unpredictable and short, RIP Shefali.”. The actor’s last rites are likely to be conducted today at the Oshiwara Crematorium.
