Actor Rajkummar Rao had his fanboy moment at the Filmfare Awards 2025 when the Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan personally praised his performance in Srikanth.
Rao, who won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor was overwhelmed with emotions when King Khan congratulated him on stage saying, “Congratulations, Rajkummar. I shouldn’t be saying this, I’m a host. I should not be taking any sides but Srikanth was outstanding. Absolutely truly deserved, fantastic Rajkummar.”
Clearly moved, Rajkummar replied, “Sir, I love you, thank you…this is a way bigger award for me, you saying this means the world to me, thank you.” Rao later posted the Clip from the ceremony on his Instagram handle remarking, “Won the Best Actor Critics Filmfare Award for #Srikanth. Worked extremely hard for this film and everything feels magical when @iamsrk says such kind words for your performance.”
Rao also expressed his gratitude to director Tushar Hiranandani, producers Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani and Bhushan Kumar, and the real Srikanth Bolla for inspiring the story. He added a special note for wife Patralekhaa, calling her his biggest inspiration, and for his fans as well for showering love on the film.
Reflecting on all the admiration Srikanth has been getting, Rao remarked, “I also keep hearing that people feel Srikanth should get all the big awards. A lot of my seniors and legends called me after watching the film and said there are very few such performances in the world for a role like this, and mine is one of them. I think that itself is an award for me.”
Rao’s moving portrayal of visually impaired entrepreneur Srikanth Bolla has been hailed as one of the strongest performances of the year. With critical acclaim, love from fans, and validation from some of the biggest names in the industry, many believe Rajkummar could indeed be headed for one of the most prestigious honors of his career.
