DRI Mumbai seizes Cocaine valued at Rs. 62.6 crores from a female passenger at Mumbai International Airport

As per the specific intelligence created by DRI Mumbai officials, an Indian origin female passenger travelling from Doha to Mumbai on 14th July would be smuggling narcotics into India.

DRI Mumbai Seizes Cocaine worth Rs. 62.6 crores from a female passenger at Mumbai International Airport.

Based on this information, DRI Mumbai officers intercepted the female passenger when she arrived at the Mumbai Airport on July 14.   

A careful examination of her luggage led to the recovery of 6 oreo boxes and 3 chocolate boxes. On opening, these nine boxes- capsules containing a white powdery substance purported to be Cocaine were found. A total of 300 such capsules were recovered from the woman. A field test kit was used to examine all the capsules individually and it showed positive results for cocaine content.

Total 6261 grams of Cocaine with an estimated value of Rs 62.6 crore in illicit market was recovered and seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. In addition, the said passenger was arrested and further investigation is underway.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) stands at the forefront of combating drug trafficking in India, playing a key part in intercepting illicit narcotics, dismantling trafficking networks, and safeguarding national security.
